Doctors using disposable surgical linens and clothing made from non-woven materials cannot always accurately navigate their names and properties, and no wonder: this industry The medical products industry is developing very quickly. Let's try to briefly describe the main non-woven materials used in the production of medical linen and clothing, their composition and properties
Spunlace is one of the most popular materials, during its manufacture, viscose and polyester fibers are intertwined with water jets under high pressure. The first were trade Fibrella® brand (Suominen company - Suominen) and Sontara® (DuPont - DuPont), spunlace is currently being produced and in Russia. The usual composition is 70% viscose + 30% polyester, but other ratios are possible. The material has high absorbency, tactilely similar to natural cotton fabrics. Used in the manufacture of medical clothing, dressings and hygiene products.
Airlaid - this material is produced by thermosetting the canvas in a stream of hot air. When exposed to heat, the low-melting material of the bicomponent fiber shell glues the fibers of the added material at a higher temperature melting without disturbing its properties. Various types of bicomponent fibers based on polypropylene, viscose, cellulose, etc. are used, and the resulting “airlides” have various properties. The technology allows the introduction of additives - adsorbents into the material, which increases its absorbency and allows its effective use in the production of absorbent products, including for patients.
Spunbond is a group of materials made from fibers obtained from the melt of 100% polypropylene spunbond and bonded using the point method heat setting. Fabric bonded using technology "spunbond", has high strength and elasticity, hypoallergenicity, the ability to give it has hydrophobic or hydrophilic properties. There is a material similar in technology to Thermobond (Carded Termobond), characterized by the use of short polypropylene staple fibers for its base, viscose (which gives it hydrophilicity and special softness), but modern spunbonds are gradually replacing thermal bond, “overtaking” it in properties and manufacturability.
Further development of this group of materials (company Reifenhauser Group) - nonwoven materials SMS (SMS, SMMS, SMMMSS), composite materials - “sandwiches” made of 100% polypropylene, which consist of layers of spunbond (S) and meltblown (M, Meltblown) - a material obtained in the same way, but, unlike spunbond, its fibers are “tangled” laid on a conveyor without stretching, like a kind of polypropylene “cotton wool”, which is further compacted by calendering with rollers. Meltblown has increased hydrophilic and barrier properties in relation to microorganisms, which makes it possible to increase protective properties of medical linen and clothing from SMS materials. Effective use of meltblown as a filter layer in surgical masks and other protective products
Currently, third generation spunbonds, produced using technology that allows the use of to obtain microfilament fiber material 1.1 denier polypropylene (against the minimum thickness level 2.2 denier in spunbond of the first and second generations)
Materials used in the production of medical clothing and linen are becoming better, more comfortable and safer, and most importantly - more accessible to manufacturers in Russia. High demands placed on to surgical linen and gowns in “critical” areas of the product: complete impermeability even in damp conditions condition, blocking the spreading of liquids, resistance to abrasion during long operations - are achieved using laminated nonwoven materials, multilayer compositions of nonwoven materials, films and membranes. We use laminates produced by extrusion (fill-in) method, hot-melt adhesive bonding, spot welding, various methods canvas caching. Many manufacturers use their own designs and technologies for multi-layer surgical drapes, for example Steri-Drape (3M, USA), Raucodrape (Lohmann&Rauscher, Germany), Barrier (Molnlycke, Sweden), Foliodrape (Paul Hartmann, Germany), TUTAMI (Gexa, Russia) and others.
Our company Medascom LLC, using modern nonwoven materials, produces disposable sterile surgical operating room kits linen and linen sets for obstetrics: from simple basic kits to specialized ones, equipped with all the necessary modern components (adhesive edges, incisional films, membranes, absorbent zones, drainage pockets, communication fastenings, etc.), as well as sterile clothing sets for the surgical team.
Own absorbent waterproof multi-layer diapers and linens with sizes from 30x20 cm up to 120x60 cm allow us to create effective and inexpensive equipment for use in obstetrics, combustiology, and traumatology.
We are also developing the production of disposable products for the field of cosmetology, spa services, baths, hairdressing salons and barber shops, for veterinary medicine: clothes, sheets, napkins, sets.
General production and logistics complex group of companies in Kataysk includes production workshops, modern warehouse areas, administrative and auxiliary buildings, access roads. A representative office was opened in Moscow with a sales office and equipped warehouses.
